She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center where she practices emergency psychiatry. Prior to her career in medicine, she conducted HIV immunology research for many years at several institutions including the National Institutes of Health and the University of Oxford. As a contributor to the ABC News Medical Unit and on-air expert for Black News Channel she writes and speaks about COVID public health measures and mental health. Her new co-authored book is Anjali the Brave: All about Vaccines, where readers join Anjali on an inspirational journey as she learns about how vaccines work to keep us safe and healthy, and about the amazing scientists who created them.
